Intro of UCAN
United Connecticut Action for Neighborhoods, Inc. (UCAN) was established in 1978 to expand community organizing in Connecticut. UCAN has developed and provided technical assistance to over twenty five community organizing groups, municipal governments and foundations in Connecticut. UCAN has also created and provided staff organizing support to several state wide coalitions in Connecticut including United Seniors in Action, the Caring Families Coalition and Create Change.
Mission: The mission of UCAN has remained the same throughout its history. Specifically, UCAN offers technical assistance to those groups whose purpose is the same as UCAN’s – the building of powerful community organizations through which people solve problems and change structures that adversely affect their lives.
